The goal of this project is to reduce nutrient loading to surface and groundwater from the City's municipal reuse water provided by the Donax Wastewater Reclamation Facility (WRF). Upgrades to the plant would convert the plant to advanced wastewater treatment standards and reduce nutrient (nitrogen and phosphorus) concentrations in irrigation water provided to golf courses, multi-family, and residential properties by more than 50%. This project will greatly improve Sanibel's water quality and protect the coastal waters of Lee County
